Harper's Bazaar. One year in Ukraine.

December 12, 2009 in "Chocolate House", 17, Shelkovichnaya street, there was held a party by Harper's Bazaar, the magazine about fashion and luxury, in honor of the first year of publication in Ukraine. As a part of the evening a new project Bazaar Fashion Art was presented, over which the editors worked with the Ukrainian designers, artists, photographers, stylists, musicians, and filmmakers. Dress-code: Fabulously Fashionable.
At the entrance guests were greeted with an interactive installation with congratulations from fashion designers from around the world: Antonio Berardi, ETRO, Gucci, Maurizio Pecoraro, Vera Wang, Victor & Rolf and others. Anyone could join them, by leaving their congratulations and best wishes on the invitation cards.
During the evening guests listened to some special music Live ongoing program from 3 of the most interesting independent Ukrainian groups: Pur: Pur, Fotomoto, PIANOBOY. Pur: Pur - a musical discovery of the year, a trio from Kharkov. They performed an acoustic easy-listening; Fotomoto - an indie band, whose fans at various times were John Peel and AK Troitskiy; PIANOBOY - the newest reincarnation of a musician Dmitri Shurov ("Ocean Elzy" ,Esthetic Education, Zemfira), piano-vocal action using the latest technology, a black back-up singer and his sister. Support-DJing held a leading music critic Vladimir Sivash aka DJ Sivash.
Individual items of the project took place at Bazaar Fashion Art. At the request of the magazine, 50 creative people talked about "Who is this Harper’s Bazaar girl ". The result of this work – an art objects, photo installations, short films, street-art - you can see on the pages of the anniversary January number of Harper's Bazaar and alive - at the party.
During the evening it was raised the social aspect of art and fashion. In the center of Kiev a unique building of monumental and decorative art - a mansion, built by architect Vladimir Nikolayev in early XX century is dying. The predominance of brown gave the mansion such name, as "Chocolate House". The interior of each room is made in different styles: Art Nouveau, Renaissance, Gothic, Baroque. Exceptional painting walls and ceilings, rich moldings with gold, carved wooden panels, window sills, doors and windows, inlaid parquet floors, stained glass windows and wrought-iron fence stairs. All this, according to experts, is a work of high art and artistic value, which requires financial support.
Inviting guests to celebrate the first year of the magazine in Ukraine in the mansion, the beauty that eludes the eyes, Harper's Bazaar persuaded guests that "Chocolate House" is worth to save it from destruction and bring this beauty to future generations. Should be aware of the fact that today is fashionable and prestigious to invest not only in contemporary art, but also in the salvation of architectural monuments.
